Field Engineer

Field Engineer

Job Description:
NexGen Utility Solutions has a current opportunity for Field Engineers. The Field Engineer works closely with the local Project Manager and account teams to assist in all aspects of deploying and supporting Silver Spring Networks (SSN) hardware and related systems in supporting SSN’s network. Candidate must have the ability to work independently to troubleshoot network problems, perform radio frequency (RF) coverage tests, and gather survey data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong background and experience with RF and wireless technologies.
  • A strong understanding of RF and propagation theory as well as experience with RF test equipment and tools such as spectrum analyzers, power meters, sweep testers and drive test software.
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot various electronic and RF systems.
  • Candidate must have strong PC skills with software such as, Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Candidate must have strong verbal, written, and organizational skills; the ability to directly interface with customers and vendors; maintain a professional appearance; and work independently.

Required Skills

  • Travel as much as 80% of the time

  • Must possess a valid driving license
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Science, military training, or equivalent work experience

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience and knowledge of gas, water and electric utility meter reading and related technologies
  • Experience with GIS mapping software such as MapInfo
  • Experience with GPS and coordinate data
  • Experience with RF propagation software
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP

AMI Field Equipment Installer

AMI Field Equipment Installer

Job Description:
NexGen Utility Solutions has a current opportunity for electric meter installers. This technician will be responsible for checking the existing meter, replacing with a new digital meter and doing a final test of the meter. You will need to explain to the customer that we are doing a meter change out and answer any questions. Must accurately collect customer data and document the installations in handheld device. Complete training will be provided, but some basic understanding of field equipment installs is a plus. The technicians will work on a current meter change out project and other projects after completion. Travel required.

Must be dependable, detail oriented, have good verbal skills and a neat/clean appearance. Must be comfortable interacting with customers and quality oriented. Must have the ability to use assigned tools properly and work within safety guidelines.

Compensation: $35K-45K (Opportunity for advancement)

Qualifications:

  • Must be a High School graduate, or the Equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a Tech with 1-3 years field experience is strongly desired.
  • Must have the basic knowledge of high voltage and the capability of reading and operating a volt test meter.
  • Must have valid Driver’s License.
  • Must be detail oriented, have good verbal skills and a neat/clean appearance.
  • Must pass drug screening and background check.

AMI Warehouse Associate

AMI Warehouse Associate

Job Description:
NexGen Utility Solutions has a current opportunity for warehouse personnel. This associate will be responsible for receiving incoming items and materials then importing them into the companies’ computer software. You will maintain control of stock items, supplies, perform weekly inventory and reconciliation of warehouse levels. Other functions will include staging inventory, schedules, receive/reconcile inventory and monitor movement of the field personnel on a daily basis. You may be responsible for clearing exceptions, validations and verifying completed work from field personnel. Complete training will be provided, but some basic understanding of field equipment installs is a plus. Organization is a must have in keeping an orderly and clean warehouse. Some travel required.

Must be dependable, detail oriented, have good verbal skills and a neat/clean appearance. Must be comfortable interacting vendors and suppliers, quality oriented, organized and a good communicator. Must have the ability to use assigned equipment properly and work within safety guidelines.

Compensation: $30-$35k

Qualifications:

  • Must be a High School graduate, or the Equivalent.
  • 2-3 year experience in warehousing with knowledge of inventory systems is strongly desired.
  • Must be familiar with procedures pertaining to issuing and receiving property.
  • Must a certified forklift operator.
  • Must be proficient in using a PC and working in different programs
  • Must have experience in using hand tools and machinery.
  • Must be able to use hand jacks, pallet jacks, dollies and ladders.
  • Must be able to exert between 50-100 lbs of force occasionally.

NexGen Utility Solutions has a current opportunity for demand response technicians. This technician will be responsible for installing Wi-Fi thermostats, AC switches or hot water heater switches, which are considered demand response devices, and doing a final test of the installation. You will need to explain to the customer that we are doing a demand response device install and answer any questions. Must accurately collect customer data and document the installations in handheld device. Complete training will be provided, but understanding of field equipment installs and HVAC is a must. An electrical understanding is a plus. The technicians will work on a demand response project and other projects after completion. Travel required.
